Amazon ends its Astro for Business security robot program

July 3, 2024: Amazon Halts Astro Business Security Robots - Amazon has announced the discontinuation of its Astro for Business program, less than a year after its launch. The initiative aimed to enable businesses to use Amazons Astro robots for facility monitoring. Customers, who will see these robots become inoperative later this year, are promised refunds for their purchases and any prepaid subscriptions. Amazon cites a strategic shift towards enhancing their consumer robotics products as the primary reason for ending the business-focused program. Affected customers will also receive a $300 credit towards a replacement solution and invitations to an early access program for the consumer version of Astro.
