Hugging Face Builds OpenAIs Deep Research Alternative - Hugging Face researchers, led by Thomas Wolf, have developed Open Deep Research, an open version of OpenAI's proprietary deep research tool. It uses the o1 AI model and an open-source framework to autonomously navigate and analyze web data. The tool achieved a 54% GAIA benchmark score, lower than OpenAI's 67.36%, but it shows potential.
Public demo access to Open Deep Research faced heavy traffic issues. Despite this, the team is dedicated to enhancements and has made the source code available on GitHub. Competing models still lag behind OpenAI's o3 in capability.
