Law Professors Back Authors in Meta Copyright Case - A group of copyright law professors and organizations are backing authors in a lawsuit against Meta for allegedly using their e-books without authorization to train Llama AI models. The professors argue that Meta's fair use claim is unprecedented and non-transformative, as it competes with the original works. The International Association of Scientific, Technical, and Medical Publishers and the Copyright Alliance support the authors.
Meta, however, insists that its actions qualify as fair use. The legal battle continues in the U.S. District Court in California.
