October 18, 2024: Quantum AI Startup SandboxAQ Seeks $5B Valuation - SandboxAQ, a spinout from Alphabet, seeks a $5 billion valuation with its latest funding round. Originally Alphabets quantum AI moonshot, the startup focuses on software that models molecular behavior using large quantitative models (LQMs), not building quantum computers. Led by Jack Hidary and chaired by ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt, SandboxAQ partners in projects across life sciences, navigation, and cybersecurity, including contracts with Novonix and the U.S. Air Force. It previously raised $500 million in early 2023, attracting investments from Breyer Capital, Marc Benioff, and T. Rowe Price funds.
