Yann LeCun Predicts New AI and Robotics Era - Meta's AI chief, Yann LeCun, predicts a new AI architecture will emerge within five years, surpassing the limitations of current generative AI and large language models. This new approach, centered on world models, seeks to imbue machines with reasoning, memory, and planning capabilities.
LeCun expects these advancements to usher in a decade focused on robotics, where AI and robotics produce intelligent, real-world applications. Although generative AI has achieved much, he believes future AI systems will construct mental models of the world, leading to greater common sense and understanding.
